Art Futures Essay
My career hopes for the future are
starting my own art/design studio preferably down south like Houston or Dallas,
get my foot into the fashion industry whether its starting my own street brand
or a collaboration with a shoe or clothing company, and sooner or later having
my own gallery and show my illustrations and drawing. I got involved or started
drawing/ doodling home, hotels and cars while in class or at home. Year after
year I kept pushing myself to push the horizon. In middle school, I drew my first
3d angled car and most of the time I use to just draw them from the side view
of them. So, my art teacher started to tell me I had an eye for realistic
drawings. Then once I got to college I found out about adobe and started to
create illustrations and logos on the computer. A goal of mine for the year is
to be able to create animation using my own characters. So pretty much learning
adobe animation, after effects and Premiere Pro. I try not to put myself into
only one category and learn how to create things on many different programs and
materials. I can draw using charcoal, pencils, pens, markers, printmaking, etc.
On computer, I can pretty much just work on illustrator and some of Photoshop a
little. Places I go to get help to keep practicing is through YouTube and its
one of the best tools to have that shows you through video on how to either
draw or create on computer with steps and side by side walkthroughs. Art has
always been my escape from reality because I can show what I’m thinking or want
to design through illustrations and drawings. I get motivated when I see
something that I know I can put my own little twist or idea to it. My audience I
would say can be from middle school to college and adults as well because I like
creating what I consider sneaker art which is art that has some type of sneaker
spin to it. I sometimes make either illustration or paintings/drawing from my
ideas. Nobody can make my work cause I look at different images and make ideas
and sketches and changes multiple times and make my own type of work. Right now,
I feel like I don’t have my own type of art but I know sooner or later ill have
one. Materials I enjoy using are Adobe illustrator, acrylic paint, markers, oil
paint, and Photoshop. I try all types of materials just to try and see which
ones I enjoy and can move forward and learn more and create better works from.
Sneakers, clothing and pop art are pretty much the three things that inform you
about most of my work. Sneaker culture has evolved so much over the year that
artist in them music industry as well as artist of the art world now have the
opportunity to create their own shoes and show their art on the shoes. An
artist I always look up is KAWS. He was his own well know signature which is
the 2Xs over the character’s eyes. He takes childhood characters we all know
and love and puts his own spin to it as well putting shapes and colors that makes
it pop. His works is something I always use as motivation that I want to create
in my works. Another artist is Virgil Abloh, he’s an architect and fashion
designer who is c/o of Off-White clothing brand. He has also been a close
friend to Kanye West and also directed a few music videos. Both of these
artists recently came out with shoes from Jordan Brand and sold out immediately.
The resell prices are all over $1,000 to get a pair of your own. In the future,
I hope to have an exhibition showing off all my works to the audience and
motivate others to create their own works. I don’t put a limit on my works so I
won’t stop at a certain number and say I’m done. I’ll probably go back and look
at old work that I felt like it was completed and create a new one from it.
